Fertility-Friendly Resources

As per the World Health Organization (WHO), infertility affects about 70 million people worldwide. Both, male and female fertility declined significantly over the past 50 years. One of the reasons for increased infertility rates has to do with our daily use of products containing fertility reducing chemicals - endocrine disruptors. You can learn what’s in your products by reading the product label, however, many manufacturers don't disclose all ingredients of their product labels. Below are some "clean" natural products for your consideration. There are a lot more fertility-friendly products out there, so if you have your favorite one, please share it here.

Household Products

Commercial air fresheners may smell great, but they are full of chemicals that contribute to decline in fertility. Making your own air freshener is easy - see instructions below.

Clear Cosmetic Bottle

1.  In a spray bottle, mix 1 cup of water with 1/4 cup witch hazel.
2.  Add about 5-7 drops of essential oil of your choice.
3.  Close the bottle and shake for a few seconds before spraying the room.

Cleaning Products

Cleaning products use harsh chemicals to work, but that can negatively affect male and female's reproductive health and wellness. To help minimize exposure to these endocrine disruptive toxins, you can use environmentally friendly household product or make your own. See instructions below. 

All-purpose Cleaners

Option 1

1.  In a glass spray bottle, mix one part distilled white vinegar to one part water. 
2.  Close the bottle and gently shake for a few seconds before using.

Option 2

Mix hot water with 1/2 teaspoon of washing soda and 1/2 teaspoon of liquid soap or dish detergent.

Kitchen Cleaners

Cleaning the Counter

Option 1

Mix vinegar and salt into a paste to use as a grime-fighting surface cleaner.

Option 2

1. Sprinkle baking soda on oven stains.
2. Moisten with water and let stand overnight, wipe and rinse.

Bathroom Cleaners

Cleaning in the Bathroom

1.  Wet 1/2 cup baking soda with a little liquid soap.
2.  Once you get a frosting-like consistency, use it as a soft scrub to clean bathroom surfaces.

Laundry

Laundry Room

Instead of using fabric softeners or dryer sheets, add vinegar to the rinse cycle to reduce static cling and strong odor, and soften and brighten your clothes.
